Reasons to Consider Newborn Care

If we say it takes a village, then as doulas and NCS our support has to include both things parents don't want to do themselves while they are bonding (often things like dishes and laundry and meal prep) as well as helping with baby while parents do some things they want to do without holding an infant (like this list below). Some parents want to do everything with their infant, and we support that too! But helping with baby is often part of nurturing parents back to health, back to recovery, and back to work--because work is a reality in our current economy without paid maternity/paternity leave. Being a new parent doesn't mean you have to spend every waking and sleeping moment with your baby or babies. (Only all the time that you want to spend with them!)
