Meet Kimberly

Postpartum Doula, IBCLC, New Parent Educator, Lactation Educator, Newborn Care Specialist, Grandparent Educator

ABC Doula is my 3rd child! I have been working with postpartum families since before I had my first child in 2000, and I have always had a passion for newborns and their families, particularly in the early transition to newborn or twins. My kids are now raised, I welcomed a grandbaby in 2023, and I’m constantly learning from parents and their experiences to improve our service and classes.

Since founding ABC Doula & Newborn Care I have seen the company grow to serve over 3500 families, and I truly love working with our team of doulas. Because my joy is in educating new parents, training aspiring doulas and educators, and updating the skills and talents of grandparents, I offer classes for professionals through CAPPA and expectant and new families in person and online, and I teach locally in Portland through Providence Health System.

I love helping parents understand their tiny humans, supporting the transition to confident parenting, and making sure our clients get the perfect doula for them. I hold the parents as tenderly as the newborn babies we work with, and I look forward to helping to make the postpartum time the best it can possibly be.

Meet Maren

Postpartum Doula, Lactation Educator, Perinatal Nutrition Expert, MS Ed in Counseling

While Maren is not the only client turned doula on our team, she is the only doula we have who speaks Danish! If you are familiar with hygge—the Danish word for warmth, comfort, and coziness—you will recognize it in Maren’s presence, as she brings the calm, peace and connection that set the stage for a comforting postpartum recovery.

What a joy to get to have Maren as an ABC Doula offering her experience, her training, and her immense patience, equipping her to support parents and their tiny new arrivals. Supporting families is second nature to her, as one of the things she is best at is listening and helping people sort out what is important and meaningful to them. Maren exudes love, acceptance, and comfort, so it is a natural extension to bring that to Portland area families in a professional doula role.

Meet Rosa

Postpartum Doula, New Parent Educator, Childbirth Educator, Certified Parental Leave Coach

Rosa wears many hats in the birth world, first and foremost her role as mom to her 2 littles, the impetus for her to expand her career in HR to include supporting new families in their journey from workers to parents. Rosa met Kimberly as an expectant parent in her Breastfeeding and Newborn care class at Providence, and she caught the spark of a new passion that has only grown the past 7 years into many roles in supporting families. Becoming a postpartum doula was a natural extension of her devotion to supporting new parents.

You may have met Rosa during a Birth and Beyond class, a maternity orientation, or a newborn care class at Providence. She also runs two new parent groups, and is so happy to be able to support families in their homes after birth and during the adjustment to new parenting life, as she knows first hand how overwhelming and surprising it can be. Rosa offers overnight support and some daytime postpartum learning sessions as well. Families tell us they love learning from her, find her reassuring and dependable, and appreciate her dedication to providing resources for their needs.

Meet Krystal

After becoming a mom herself to two adored children, Krystal came to understand the value of postpartum care, and wanted to be that for other new parents.

In becoming a postpartum doula, Krystal learned an array of vital skills to support moms and their families. The desire to take care of the parents (not just the baby) has inspired Krystal to take the time to really help parents process their experiences, make decisions about their baby’s care, and feel confident in their new role. She is so happy to be offering this care to parents all over the Portland area, and considers it her calling. Krystal runs a new mom support group in her community, something she benefited from as a new mom herself, and now has become a resource for new parents for babywearing and a voice for new mothers as they adjust to newborn life.
