ABC Doula & Newborn Care

Are You Ready to Help?

I’m so excited to train a fabulous group of new doulas in Portland, OR this April and I can’t wait to get them ready to serve new families! I’ve been so excited about planning a new year of doula trainings for CAPPA in 2022, and am so glad to be offering in person and virtual trainings this year.

Even if you don’t want to serve families as career postpartum doula, taking a doula training can have many benefits to supporting those in your lives having newborns. I have had nurses, social workers, daycare providers, nannies, newborn care specialists, nursery workers, and even grandmas-to-be take the training for enrichment, even if they don’t go on to certify.

What will you learn? All about postpartum recovery. What healing looks like, and how to help. How to support partners to have a team approach. Caring for the whole family including partners, grandparents, extended family and pets. Newborn care that promotes bonding, connection, and family harmony. How to support families during the day, and overnight, when they are the most tired. What hormones look like after birth and how to offer nutritional support during recovery. Postpartum depression, anxiety and other perinatal mood disorders and how to support families who are struggling.

And on top of all that, learning how to structure a business that can make this a career.

Can we do all that in 2 days? Yes, we can create a foundation for work in 18 hours of training over 2 days.

It is a small investment that you will make up in the first week you work as a doula (if you do this as a business) and it will give rewards for years if you decide to apply it to a different but complementary field.

If you have skills that nurture new parents and babies, maybe you need to plan to become a doula in 2022! More doulas are needed not just in Portland and Vancouver, but all across the US and Canada. Everyone I know who does this work says WE NEED MORE DOULAS!

More doulas means better support for families as they begin. Training with CAPPA offers you both a dynamic learning setting, evidence based information and a chance to learn collaboratively with a group of passionate folks who also love babies and new parents! They also offer amazing follow up with customer service, a free conference, and connections with other professionals.

We'd love to have you join us so you can be ready when they ask for help…
