Conquering Your Fears

How do you answer this?

Students in newborn care class get to answer this question and lately the answers have been raw, honest, and vulnerable.
"I'm worried I won't be able to parent well while working."
"I don't know if our relationship can handle this."
"I am not sure we know enough about babies to do this."
"I don't know how to do it on my own."
"I'm scared we will have a baby that cries all the time."

Taking a class can really help. Being around other expectant or new parents is very reassuring, as well as the information you receive from the instructor and doing all the hands-on learning activities. Find a baby class to help you plan.
Although it can't answer all these questions, making a plan for your postpartum can make a giant difference!
Postpartum doulas are master problem solvers and supporters during 'after baby' struggles. Don't hesitate to call one for help after baby arrives, or meet with one before birth for a private class on preparing for all the changes.

Babies are amazing, and will bring joy along with the struggles. You are going to love this. Just get enough support to really enjoy the process.
