A certified postpartum doula and trained midwife, Calina brings many talents to our doula team. With years of doula experience framed by completion of several years of midwifery studies at Birthingway Midwifery College, Calina has capped off her education by having her first baby (Tulsie) to give her the full experience of new motherhood. After recovering from a surprise cesarean and some sleepless nights of her own, she was ready to add serving other new moms back into her life and decided to join forces with ABC for an easier work/life balance as a mom.
Calina has a degree in nutrition and loves to create nourishing meals fornew mamas to keep them energized and help increase milk supply. Her gentleness and calm demeanor makes her an easy fit to have in your home, as well as her skills with newborns, babywearing, and of course all things practical so mamas can focus on recovering and bonding with their newborns and achieve their breastfeeding goals.
Her newest passion is as a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, as she has seen the benefits of this connection with her little one and is happy to teach parents not only the benefits but the techniques for baby calming, soothing, digestive help, and helping them sleep peacefully. Ask her about the classes she offers parents to equip them with these skills.
Calina's central location makes her a fit for families in many different areas of Portland and she prefers to offer visits during the days so her little one can reunite with mama at night. Her current specialty is offering support through the dinner hour so families can not only experience the rest and tranquility, but can also enjoy a warm meal made by the doula while having baby support so they can actually enjoy each other, too.
If you are lucky enough to have Calina as your doula, make sure to ask her to whip you up a batch of coconut curry soup or her special chocolate avocado mousse (for your milk supply, of course).
