We love babies and supporting new parents!
As the owner and founder of ABC Doula & Newborn Care, I have worked extensively with families providing doula and newborn support, as well as lactation support for the past 20 years. I have seen the company grow to serve over 2500 families, and know you will truly love working with our team of doulas. -Kimberly Bepler, Owner
ABC Doula & Newborn Care is made up of a team of highly experienced postpartum doulas and newborn care specialists located in the Portland area!
All our doulas and NCS are trained in:
Breastfeeding and bottle feeding support and instruction, including pumping/expressing milk
Postpartum recovery including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
Expert infant care, particularly in how to set up optimal and healthy
newborn sleep both day and night
Many of our doulas are also Multiples Specialists, and some are Birth Doulas or Licensed Midwives as well as having other specialties and backgrounds.
What is a postpartum doula?
Doulas are all about service and care. New parents are often away from their extended families, trying to heal after birth, and learning to bond with their infants sometimes all alone. A postpartum doula is professionally trained to give in-home care to parents and their tiny ones while they experience the many transitions of newborn life. Our ultimate goal is not just to care for the baby but to nurture each new parent and help them to nurture their baby confidently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hiring a Postpartum Doula can be a new concept to many expectant parents. After serving over 2500 families in PDX we have had lots of questions about our service. Here’s a quick breakdown for those who are wondering how we help.
-
Most of our clients live in the greater Portland, Oregon, or Vancouver, WA metro areas. We also serve Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tualatin, Tigard, Wilsonville, Canby, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Mollala, Gresham, West Linn, Camas, Washougal, Ridgefield, Happy Valley, and Oregon City.

Earlier is better! The first few weeks are when you can benefit the most from having knowledgeable helpers in your home. Having a doula there the first couple days can make days 3, 4, & 5 (when your milk typically arrives) much more manageable, help partners and extended family understand how to make the best team of care.
We also serve many families during 3-8 weeks, when babies tend to ramp up their fussy times.
We generally wrap up care around the 3-4 month mark, but we customize this for each family.
-
Absolutely! Our Sleep Support helps parents struggling with sleep deprivation with their new baby/twins. We offer both overnight care as well as problem solving visits during the day (when your brain can plan!).
We respond to babies sensitively and gently, and prioritize your parenting goals. Sleep support is the most requested service we have—book early if you can!
