New burping technique to try!

burping techniques ABC Doula.png

More focus this week on helping fussy, gassy babies release their air (upper or lower "wind") This burping technique works well when you support babies in a more upright position and offer a little bit of lift on that heavy head. The key is to give support on the baby's back to straighten baby up and wiggle out a bit of space to open up the pathway for release.

I also find wiggling baby around better than patting for releasing upper air, but some babies are also very soothed by patting, so patting can be relaxing as well for a baby that is uncomfortable.

I will be featuring lower air release techniques later in the week--both are important! Helping our babies clear out the gas is key to a relaxed baby that is less fussy and sleeps better.
