Restoring Your Mom Soul

Let go of the ideal and just go with what is available.

Although we can't provide a hammock near a waterfall for lounging, we can come and give you a baby-free break. We can also prep something for a meal, throw in some laundry, do up the dishes, and hand your baby back whenever you are ready for your break to be over (even if that is shorter or longer than you thought you needed--parents always have the right to change their minds).

Taking care of small beings is so exhausting. Becoming a whole new person is also exhausting, especially when there is less sleep available to you for your brain to recharge.

You don't need something fancy to do to schedule a doula visit. You can just need to time to take a nap. Or work in your garden. Or cook alone, without interruption, with a glass of wine. Or create music or crafts. Or work on your dissertation. Or do yoga or meditate without someone needing you. We have had clients hire ABC Doulas for all of these reasons.

We do overnight care as well, but daytime care is so valuable and often overlooked as a support tool.
Partners love coming home to a nurtured mom who has had someone give her a break, be her sounding board, offered her a nap, and also told she is pretty wonderful and a great mom. Although not needed every day for most, having a daytime doula might make you feel like you are hanging in this forest, beside this waterfall, in this cozy hammock--only without the bugs. Call a doula.
